Origin and Race

Elaric Coppercliff was bestowed upon the Boulderbrand Guild 23 years ago. A fellow artisan returned to the village with a copper amulet in hand, and asked around to see if any lady had lost a necklace. Since no one claimed it, he laid it on his nightstand and went to bed. The next morning, a baby fairy had been waiting for him. With bright orange eyes looking up at him, he decided to take this little one into his care. Elaric’s namesake is his guardian’s late son, whose fateful death was mysterious and unspoken. No one knows who Elaric’s parents are, or the means in which he was held in the amulet.

Personality and Traits

Being raised by tinkers, he wants to know how everything works. He enjoys taking things apart, putting them back together, and taking them apart again. He is also very loyal to those he is close with. Boulderbrand has molded him into who he is today.
Such an influential and detrimental force in his life leaves him no choice but to stay by their side no matter what.

Adventures and Goals

Elaric has always been one to wander. His guardian was very protective of him during his youth, but as he matured he was allowed to spread his wings, literally and figuratively. Although he has traveled only a few miles outside of the Boulderbrand guild, he has yet to see any other fairy or fae kind. Elaric wants to learn more about who he is and where he came from, no matter how grim it may be.

Obstacles

Growing up in a guild such as Boulderbrand has its upsides and downsides. A downside being the protective nature of the guild members. As an orphaned fairy that a guild member happened upon, the members' ears perk up at any danger that may find its way to Elaric. They have only a vague idea of the weaknesses fairies have, and they are not willing to take any chances. Elaric is a black sheep and prized possession of the guild, something that he often ponders whether or not is a blessing or a curse.

Treasured Possessions

Elaric always keeps the copper amulet with him at all times. As soon as he was old enough to learn that’s where he came from, he never parted with it. It is the only tie he has to his true origin. He hopes if he keeps it on him, maybe something will be attracted to it and find his way to Elaric. Perhaps if he shows the right people, he may find out where he really came from

Personal Growth

Due to Elaric’s sheltered lifestyle, he has a lot to learn from the rest of the world. His elders taught him the usual manners, and allowed him to exercise his curiosity and tinkering skills. He has grown to love his gift and has become a very openhearted person because of it. Elaric has learned, however, that not everyone is deserving of someones true, unadulterated self. Because of the things he has seen and encountered between the guildsmen and women, he may be untrustworthy of those with a selfish demeanor

Skills

Elaric loves to learn things, but hates to fail. There is nothing more he despises than disappointing someone. During his childhood, you could find him trying to replicate tools and crafts that the adults have made.

Relationships

For the short time Elaric was in public classes, he was friends with Finic, a child his age and son of a guild officer. They bonded over their weirdness and affinity for the craft. Once Finic’s parents caught wind of Elaric being around him, they quickly whisked Finic away. Elaric still thinks about him and the moments they’ve had, and could have had, to this day.

Conflict

Although Idger was a well-tempered gentleman, a lot of the higher guild-members cannot say the same. Elaric has witnessed whippings and lashings from all ages. He wonders “If that’s what is shown publicly, what happens behind closed doors?”

Events

Elaric’s most traumatic event by far was the last one involving his
hometown. On a fateful day, he bore witness to the monstrosities committed by the guild officers and headmaster, of which Idger was involved in. He had never felt so betrayed. He knew he should stop sneaking around the guild halls, for fear of getting in trouble, or even finding out more than he needed to know about what the guild does behind closed doors. In a rush, he managed to swiftly steal one of the prized creations of the guild, and
ran with all his might, as far as his legs could take him.

Influences

Idger is Elaric’s guardian. He has always been very protective over Elaric due to his differences. Although he wanted the best for Elaric, he always kept him inside or within the town walls as much as he could. Very few times has Elaric ever disobeyed Idger, because he has seen what consequences disobedient children are faced with.

Expectations

Idger was very kind and generous
with Elaric, but he knew that he needed to work very hard to prove himself worthy. Elaric has put pressure on himself from day one to be as good as he possibly can be and more. This causes him to be stressed, often for no reason, and has a tendency to overcomplicate things.

Finic

Rosalind and Florian Honeydrop

Prologue

Elaric's parents, Rosalind and Florian Honeydrop, experienced a catastrophe in which they needed to send their newborn child somewhere safe. Rosalind cast him into her amulet, which opened a portal to a random location, and tossed it. The amulet ended up in the mountains near Boulderbrand, where Elaric's soon to be guardian Idger found the amulet and kept in his home.

Epilogue

Elaric bakes with his mom and has taught his father the many skills he learned as a tinker, and in return he learns carpentry from his father. Elaric frequents Herrick's shop and he brings pies every time as a thanks for being such a loyal friend. When he’s not at Herrick's shop or with his parents, you can find him volunteering at the local daycare, caring for babies and small children. He hopes to adopt one someday soon when he feels ready. He also has picked up painting, and frequently paints pictures of his previous teammates and Finic as he remembers him. He also writes letters to everyone, but mostly Finic, telling all of them about his recent adventures and spilling his heart out. He never sends any of them.

Background

Nicodemus, preferred name Orazio, was born to an impoverished family in Pavedra, 881. His single mother, Lillith, has been haunted since she was pregnant with him. This has caused her to be demented and unreliable as a mother. The only thing that has soothed her is the art of music and poetry. Because of that, Orazio has grown fond and comfortable with poetry and the pan flute. It has been an inspiration to his bardic journey.Due to their impoverished nature, and his mother’s lunacy, Orazio was a thief as a child. He frequently stole food from markets, books from libraries, and even instruments from artisan shops. This calmed the wildfire that was their household, as his thievery was a consolation to their starvation and chaos. Lillith appreciated the food, as well as the gifts given to her to calm her demons. Some years later, Lillith’s demons got the best of her. She suffered an incredibly gruesome death at the hands of her dementors that has left Orazio scarred and alone. Between the ages of 10 and 15, he roamed the streets of Pavedra, performing for tips as a way of living.

Musical Roots

Lillith’s musical habits were a catalyst to Orazio’s bardic journey. Although she specialized in poetry and the pan flute, Orazio’s favorite instrument was the violin that he stole as a child. There was something about the rich tones of the strings, and the glide of the bow that sent chills down his spine. The more he practiced and performed, the more confident he felt. Of course, as a bumbling teenager, he had a hard time with self esteem. Especially with no family or support for him. As he grew into himself, the more handsome he became. This garnered a lot of attention from passersby, one of which included a member of Queen Ysabelle’s court, as they recruited him to the court as an entertainer.

Transformation

After a few years of being an entertainer for the entire court and castle, the Queen herself had recruited and promoted him to hand of the queen. The longer he spent at the court, the more Queen Ysabelle fell in love with Orazio. She let him in on a little secret that would change his life forever. On a fateful night, Orazio traded his mortality for a life full of never ending love, devotion, and prestige.Queen Ysabelle, now referred to as “My Lady” by Orazio, will send him to do her bidding. He has become her lover, entertainer, and many other things. Whatever task or quest given to Orazio will be done with no hesitation.

Relations

Orazio believes that he is allied with the royal court. However, they have other plans. At first, the court and council were worried about Queen Ysabelle’s relations with a human (now dhampir,) but they quickly realized that he would be a great pawn for their ulterior motives. Orazio, blinded by his love, is unaware of these motives. Queen Ysabelle shields him from anything that may lead him to believe he is not safe. Although Sabien is more keen to do her duties as teacher and maintain loyalty to Ysabelle, her twin brother Solomon finds himself feeling sorry for Orazio at times.

Internal Struggles

Some days, Orazio struggles with the thought that he never had a true family in the conventional sense. He wonders what life would have been like for a regular boy. Although these thoughts plague him, he never lets it bother him for more than a brief moment, as he needs to be ready for anything his Lady may desire.
